Summertime is wonderful because of all the outdoor festivities, but if you have long locs *raises hand*, things can get hot very quickly lol. It also does not help that I tend to wear my hair down quite often because it’s virtually zero maintenance for me. But on days where the heat is unbearable, you might catch me in one of these styles. Here are 5 loc styles that will keep you cool this summer:
French Braids on Locs
This regal style is simple yet beautiful. Joymarilie did 3 french braids (they are actually “French-like” braids because I see a slight difference from the traditional french braid) and then smoothed her edges afterward. In this short clip, she shows you exactly how she creates this look. This is a style for any season, summer or not!
Textured Loc Bun with Faux Bangs
This style is not only chic, but it’s also summer-approved. What’s awesome about this style is that because of the texture of your locs (from a braid out or twist out or curls), your bun does not need to be perfect. You will need a large band to secure your locs in place. Go ahead and place it in a bun, and then make sure to leave the ends of your bun in the front of your head, for the faux bangs.
The Loc Bob
This style will keep your retie/retwist fresh which keeps your neck liberated. It can be a bit time-consuming, but it is well worth the investment because this style can last you up to a month and even longer sometimes. This bob is two styles in one because her hair was two-strand twisted first.
Classic Loc Bun
This classic look is neat and tucked in perfectly. This is freshly retwisted, giving it that sleek look. Once you have secured the ponytail, begin molding it into a bun and fortify it with bobby pins (several pins!). Voila! You should be able to withstand any and all summer activities now.
Loc Space Buns
This style is boho chic, and perfect for a day out for fun in the sun. The two accent pieces by the ears really add that “pop” to this beautiful style. The loc jewels are a bonus!
Summertime is a great opportunity to get creative with your locs. I surely find myself wearing a bun on top of my head more often and it just gives me the fresh air on my neck that I need!
