Hello! My name is Ama. I am Ghanaian by blood, but American by birth. I reside in Prince Georges County, Maryland but I love traveling to Ghana whenever I get the chance because there’s just no place like home.
I am married to my sweet husband Rey, and we have two children who make us laugh daily. I am passionate about locs, kinky coily hair, and pretty much anything pertaining to melanated beauty!
I have a Bachelor of Science in Public Health and a Masters in Special Education. I worked as a special education teacher for 6 years, and I loved it. After I gave birth to my daughter in 2019, I decided to leave teaching for good and transitioned to working from home as a loctician, in my little salon. More specifically, I became certified as a sisterlocks consultant and I haven’t looked back.
I chose to start this blog because locking my own hair has been the absolute BEST hair decision of my life! I want to share essential hair care knowledge with other women who are seeking a low-maintenance way to enjoy their beautiful curly coils.
One of my favorite quotes!
The biggest problem with black women’s hair, is that they think their hair is a problem.

When I am not working with clients, you can find me chasing my kiddos, going on family walks to the playground, jamming to afrobeats, doing yoga, reading or catching up on some of my shows. Thanks for visiting my site, feel free to look around!
